Now I have two new toys related to grain.
The toaster was just a necessary gadget - no more watching the shiny new husband suffer using the oven to toast the (apparently) many things that need toasting. Apparently the (apparently) very necessary daily ration of vegemite is best served on toasted bread. Apparently.
The camera was another splurge courtesy of Amazon Visa Rewards Gift Certificates. We needed a pocket camera for those one hundred and billion times The Moment has been captured only by the brain, the dodgiest of memory cards, because someone didn't feel like saddling up the Canon.
The camera is okay so far. I haven't tried it outdoors yet, but every time I take a photo inside I think, "What Would the Rebel Do?" Then I want to cry, but I'll get over it.
I love the size, interface, and options of this thing (Olympus FE230) already; the power-up is pretty speedy (miles ahead of my old digital Olympus workhorse), and the superfluous movie capabilities are unexpectedly fun. (Oh boy do I see some shaming potential for the classroom next year...) It's not a SLR, but I think I may grow to really like it. I hope. (Pat, pat.)russell hobbs
